LTU Technology
Training
Accurate and safe utility location requires the best equipment and appropriately qualified operatives.
The organizations that LTU work with pride themselves on employee safety and efficient working practices.
Available Courses
LTU provide in-depth courses on the full range of Cable Locators and Fault Location procedures. On request we also offer courses on various specialist products, including our Power Products range and GPR products, from our partner Malå Geoscience.
In addition to the typical ½ and 1 day training courses, we also offer comprehensive assessment reviews and best practice audits, as part of LTU Consulting’s services. Please click here for more details.
Prices are tailored to reflect the group size and duration of each customer’s training requirements. Please contact Steve Mellor directly to discuss your needs.
Training Credentials
Our trainers are well versed in the theory and the practicalities of working with buried utilities. Having spent many years developing new technology and applying their knowledge on-site, their experience is second-to-none.
We currently employ four consultants, qualified to undertake training in line with manufacturers’ guidelines. If you would like to discuss their specific credentials, in relation to your training requirements, please contact us directly.
Course Formats
LTU offer both half-day and full-day courses.
The half-day is a three-hour course and the full day is a six-hour course.
A typical programme for a half-day course would be:
• Reasons for using locators – both safety and financial.
• Theory - covering both the benefits of the system, and as important, the limitations of the technology.
• HSE Video – Alive or Dead.
• Practical work – hands-on locating using receiver, transmitter and accessories.
• Feedback, questions/answers, application & techniques, general care and maintenance of the equipment.
A certificate is awarded at the discretion of our training officer for those candidates who successfully complete a course. These are presented in a user-friendly, passport-sized format, to be carried by operatives on site, in line with H&S recommendations.
We recommend that operatives attend a refresher course annually, as a minimum, to ensure best practices are still being adhered to. These can be arranged for groups at a discount price – please contact Steve Mellor directly to discuss your requirements.
If required, individual assessments of competence can be included by arrangement, although extra time is required for this i.e. a half-day course would be charged as a full day.
